I found this on the Adobe support site ….

“Export to FLV” unavailable in QuickTime Pro or other video application on Intel-based Mac.
On Intel-based Macs the option to export to FLV will not be available in QuickTime Pro (or other applications that use QuickTime as their exporter, such as Final Cut Pro).

The Flash 8 QuickTime exporter plug-in (FLV.component) is not a Universal Binary. As a result QuickTime cannot ‘see’ it, and the export will not be available. This issue only effects Flash 8 and earlier. The Flash CS3 Professional exporter is a Universal Binary.

To resolve, set QuickTime Player to run in Rosetta mode:

Select QuickTime Player in the Applications folder.
    Choose File> Get Info.
In the General section, choose “Open using Rosetta”.

September 15, 2005 at 1:45 pm in reply to: alpha channel for new Flash 8

No thanks to the Final Cut manuals or any information I could find online, but I was finally able output video with the alpha transparency. Having keyed out my background in FCP, I export the file using the new codex from Flash. First I had to set the alpha type within FCP (again, no real help from the manuals): Modify > Alpha Type > Straight.

When brought into Flash, I finally had the clear transparency in the video, everything I was after. However, the resulting SWF files using the video transparency can only be viewed effectively using the Flash 8 player. On my test PC with the Flash 7 player, only the audio came through until I downloaded the new player. I would think Macromedia would be able to create a standard SWF file once the video is imported, but apparently there’s still something special going on. As of a day ago, there wasn’t any support on the Macromedia site for this sort of work.

I agree, I have the good fortune to work close to Full Compass and Cal in their sales department is VERY helpful. I have both the Sennheiser EW112P wireless for $450 and their ECM77B for $330, both work well.

Wireless is nice, but it’s also a whole other list of things to figure out.

I too just noticed that I’m having this same problem, hence my rooting through the Creative Cow posts. General Error 34, according the Apple, is a File System Error for Disk Full. https://docs.info.apple.com/article.html?artnum=9805

How that could possibly apply to my AV settings or the 30+ gigs of memory sitting unused, I have no idea.
