Hi Jon, thanks for the reply. We are actually looking for a Blu-Ray software to burn our HD stuff. We just started filming in HD this year but are just now at a point when we need to create a HD DVD, thus the reason for our search on the best software. I’ve heard mixed feelings about Encore (which I used several years ago and wasn’t very fond of), and I’ve been using DVDit Pro for the past 5 years. I found out yesterday this is available in HD, so we might give it a shot. Have you heard anything about this?
Thanks,

Thanks for your feedback as I am very close to buying one of these 700 cameras. My two questions are this: First, how long into the recording time to you see the camera stop? Is it the same point (in time) every time? Next, we have edit bays with Edius on PC computers. Do you happen to know if we’ll be dealing with the same complications that FC users have? Thanks in advance for your response.

I actually appreciate the long post and details. It sounds like you’re pretty happy so far with the 700. I’ve been asking around different forums for some feedback on mixing the 700 with the 100 with no reply. I also am a “shoulder” mount DP as well, so the little camera is not my style, but certainly a valuable tool for some unique shooting and steadicam shots. Feel free to keep in touch via my email at mark@videomagicpro.net. Thanks again!

Thanks for the input David. It appears that you’re sampling the same cameras that we experimented with and unfortunately there isn’t one perfect camera out there that will fit the bill on all our work. Thus, we plan to buy a variety of cameras but would like to keep them within 2 brands. I like the Sony cams, but wish they were CCD and had SD capabilities, mostly the CCD part. The Panny 300 didn’t impress me that much either once we dumped it into our NLE (Edius, PC), but it felt like a great camera ergonomically. Then came the 700 by JVC, but I hate being forced into this “dongle”, but realize it’s unavoidable, at this point! Please keep me posted as well on your research. It’s always helpful to share ideas with fellow producers.

I haven’t purchased the cameras because I’ve been waiting on some answers both here and from JVC. I also am considering the purchase of one 700 and one GY-HM100 as a compliment.

I’m thinking of purchasing either 2 of the 700’s or one 700 and one of the HM100 as a tandem. I’m curious to know your thoughts after using these.
Thanks in advance!

Is this the 200UB? Which lens do you have? What comes with the camera and what are you asking?
Thanks,

Hi Johnny,
Thanks for the feedback. The only topic you brought up which I’m unclear about is that “60p starts pushing the codec”. Are you implying that this isn’t one of the better format settings to record in? Going to 60p was a big incentive for this unit. I’ve owned JVC cameras for 10 years and been pretty happy, thus the reason I was looking seriously at this unit (for our event and sports shooting).
Thanks,

October 2, 2008 at 5:15 pm in reply to: JVC 200U 24P SD.PrCS3 interlace problem, please help!?I don’t have an answer to your problem, but hope you can answer a quick one for me. I’m looking to buy a couple of these with the Pro-Spec package and want some feedback on the camera. Are you happy with it and glad you bought it? What are the advantages and disadvantages that you’ve experienced? Any info would be greatly appreciated.
thanks,
Mark
