There is a 10 bit version of 220 to use.

We use DNxHD codecs with all our work coming out of AE and it works with alpha. The 444 codecs are for RGB projects. Try a DNxHD resolution that is not 444, unless you are working in an RGB project.

Depending on the version of Avid, this could be related to AMA media being offline in your sequence. I think it went away in version 6, I know I haven’t had it in a while.

How about frame rates, does the footage match project? If they are different it will need to render the motion adapter.

Is there a frameflex effect on the clips?

Here is the solution based on my testing. In Avid relink sequence to original r3d files that were AMAed into project. Export AAF to import into AE. I am using Version 5.5 so I used Automatic duck Pro Import. The files will come into AE as solid because the media was just linked not actual Avid Media. Use replace footage command for each clip, point to the r3d file that needs to be linked to specific clip. After doing this for all clips I now have a comp with all my edits in place. This beats manually redoing every edit in AE.

Don’t think so. The r3ds load in Avid and AE with no issues.

The shooter says he hasn’t noticed this in the viewfinder. It only seems to come up after reviewing recorded material. On one instance we were recording directly to FCP using the HDSDI out. It was never recorded to tape and it showed the same problems.
