LOL! After we remove OS X from all our Mac Pros and bootcamp them all to Windows 7 so we can run CS5 we’re all going out to celebrate by going cow tipping and snipe hunting.
Anyone want to come along?

[Tom Brooks] Log and Transfer puts media on the scratch disk that is specified in System Settings.
Unless you change it in the Log & Transfer dialog.

Not sure a firmware patch will fix this. One of the posts I read documenting the issue seemed to indicate that it was the limitation of the hardware itself that Apple chose to use.
I could be wrong. (I often am.)

Look at the dialog. It’s the render files that are missing — not your media files.

Bleach bypass filter. 3-way color corrector > reduce saturation. Run your footage over to Color and apply a “look”. Lots of ways.

No, FCP just can’t compete any more. That’s why Steve Jobs scrapped the entire pro apps development team (you saw the announcement, right?) and diverted all the company’s resources to developing iPhone OS 4. And no more Macs. The desktop is dead. Handheld is the future.
We have all pre-ordered CS5 for our Windows 7 machines. Frankly, I’m surprised this forum is still here.

Set your location in the Log & Capture dialog. There are three tabs to the right. One of them lets you set the location.

[David Roth Weiss] FCP requires all media playback from one or more drives other than you internal system drive, as the system drive is busy doing it’s own thing, such as running applications.
I’m editing HD video in FCP6 on my 27″ iMac right now. My media (720p ProRes422) is on an external 1TB Seagate drive connected via [gasp!] USB and it’s working just fine.
