    Ok, then here’s this:

1). All the original source material for this project will be iphone4 and 4s video. So far it is my intention to use 1280x720p as the ‘base’ resolution, so 1080p of the iphone4s will be scaled down (currently using quicktime pro 7 to do this unless there’s something better?!?). Also, the final output for all this is Youtube, so there is that…

2). What I got is what I got for hardware, and ok there is the ‘learning curve’ and yes i’m hoping to get my hands on a quad for this, but my resources are limited, deadline is 3/31 yada yada yada…

3). WWJD? (besides role one hell of a big spliff and see the irrelevance of the whole thing entirely!?!) Seriously, though how would you proceed if u were me…??? And I’m talking codecs here, nothing metaphysical…what’s the biggest bang for my buck…???

    Thanks to every and all…

I’m with you most of the way – here’s the exception… FCS2 will be a full install and not an upgrade. I have no OS X disks to reinstall the OS. FCP 4.5 is on the machine because i initially believed that i would use it for editing, but as i said i’ve already pushed it to the max. So, here we are back at the start…

i will explain a bit more (see below) in the next post and thanks for any and all input. i worship at the core of your knowledge…

    Thanks for that info Jerry.

As far as that other question goes — here’s the long version: I’m putting together ‘a thing’ for youtube’s yourfilmfestival and doing so on the cheap. I’ve used my G4 1.5 Powerbook 10.4.11 — Final Cut Pro HD 4.5 as far as can take it. I’ve upgraded to G5 2.0 PowerMac Duel Core 10.5.8 — Final Cut Studio 2 (both for under $200) my deadline is 3/31 so I have to get this all down fast. There was a fix for FCP4.5 on the G5 (as the program would install but not open giving “AGP car not installed”) involving a quick snip to the code in the program’s .plist. So far this looks true for a few other wanky issues that may or may not affect me… So, I’m trying to read everything – to get the important bits to make this ‘thing’ as best i can make it… thanks again…

ok. maybe i’ve figured this out, we’ll see. also any advice on using the prores 422 codec transferring iphone4/4s video into fcp6 with a powerpc g5 dual 2.0 core mentioned above? IS THERE A BETTER CODEC to handle editing for the PPC?
