My conclusion was it’s a motherboard issue. If you don’t have one of the motherboards exactly as stated compatible on the company website then you are more than likely going to run into this problem and the company has no solution. Your motherboard (bios) whatever just won’t let you update the firmware on the card.

My fix was to return the card. Eventually I went with the hub instead with a whole new pc motherboard that was compatible according to the company website, works like a charm.

  • Still no luck after calling Black Magic support.
Turned down the UAC settings. Disabled windows defender etc. Tried reinstalling the IP card in a PCie 16 slot, even worse, couldn’t get the drivers to install. Went back to the Pcie 1 slot, drivers installed, Adobe Premiere CS5 recognizes the card. Firmware update issue. Wow, what a _______ card.
Would really like to make this card work, frustrating. Does anyone have any other suggestings?

Had the same issue with an older intensity pro card. Windows 7, Nvidia 790i Ultra SLI board. So I bought another IP card the other day and now I can’t get the firmware to update, continuous loop on boot. ARGGGGGG
Getting close to giving up on this product. Look for other solutions.

  • I have the same issue, also using the XFX nForce 790i Ultra SLI board.
Have a feeling this may be the issue in combination with Windows 7. Will have to either return the capture card or get help from tech support. Will post my results.
