Biography
​
Born 1979 in Dublin, Ireland, Mark was around film & music from a young age. On the left of his childhood home was neighbor Brian O'Reilly, a cameraman at state broadcaster RTE, and rightside brothers Dave & Robbie Ryan were a music producer and a filmmaker (Robbie is now an award-winning Cinematographer). Sir Bob Geldof was a frequent neighborhood visitor.
In 2000 Mark worked with another neighbor, Damien Rice, on his multi-platinum album 'O', including playing guitar on the single The Blowers Daughter.
Mark went on to study Film & Television Studies in the Galway Mayo Institute of Technology, graduating with a degree in 2003.
After founding the film production company Neon Pictures state broadcaster RTE, the Irish Film Board, & the Galway Film Center shortlisted the narrative short "Canalbank Memories" (based on the works of poet Patrick Kavanagh) in 2004's Short Cuts.
The Irish Film Board also funded development of the documentary "Kaliningrad: The Secret History", which was selected for the Thessaloniki Film Festival in 2005.

In 2008 he took a break from filming, took a stills camera, a backpack, and a trip around the world.
In 2010 he settled in New York, and in early 2012 returned to college, studying cinematography in NYU's School of Continuing Study and started working fulltime as a freelance Director of Photography.

He currently lives in New York City's East Village, with Hopalong Cassidy The Three Legged Cat.
