Well he’s off and running – stumbling a bit but starting to get off to the hot stuff . . . .

    I’m not a betting man but . . . .

New mac pro announcement 80% likelyhood

Mac pro for sale Mid November – 75%

    FCPX upgrade 20%

Mavericks released within the week 90%

  • [Andy Branner] “Or have you EVER used the “Event Viewer” window? I sure haven’t (and don’t think they should have given in to it… at least not that way). ;)”

Yes – a few times for matching color corrections. I make a compound of a corrected clip and then display it in the event viewer next to the clip I am correcting.

Apart from that I find it a pretty redundant feature and with no skimming a definite step backwards towards FCP7.

  • Yes, it is pretty provocative, and why?

Kevin P McAuliffe is obviously an expert Avid Media Composer editor and stirring that old pot of prejudicial bile about FCPX seems an odd move.

[David Mathis] “I keep getting an error message saying I need a newer version of OS X”

I’ve had the same message. Must be a fault with the FxFactory download. Suggest you contact then directly. They are normally very responsive.

I just couldn’t be bothered as I get tired of the constant new versions, normally launched to introduce a new plugin I have no interest in. I don’t understand why there is not a more elegant solution for launching new plugins or updates.

[Walter Soyka] “I’d imagine it would. I’d also imagine the NLE formerly known as FCPX will become unavailable.”

I like it and in 5 years time we could have FCPXIV

[Marcus Moore] “I think you mean 10.0.9. And again, just like any software in the appStore, you can still have access to older versions after newer ones come out. If someone decides to stick with 10.0.9 for the time being, if they buy a new computer, they’ll still be able to download the latest version of 10.0 from their purchase history. And if a critical bug were found, Apple could still update 10.0”

What I meant to say was that I didn’t think there would be 2 different versions of FCPX on offer to choose from and on the price issue I had thought that a higher price would be justified as it will hopefully be a far more sophisticated programme but you are probably right to compare the situation to the Logic Pro to Logic Pro X scenario.

Either anyone with sense would not be actually purchasing FCPX right at the moment!

As pointed out in the thread above this one the rumour sites are predicting Nov 15th for the new MacPro so maybe we will have to wait for FCPX 10.1 until then as they seem to be pretty tied up together in terms of the publicity. – But to be honest speculation is speculation

  • It’s certainly been a long long wait for the Mac Pro and whilst I’m looking forward to a FCPX update I’ve got pretty used to it in its present form.

The whole 4K thing is all pretty aspirational in terms of end delivery format and totally seductive as an acquisition format and were business a bit busier I’d be interested in the new Sony 4k Handicam to play around with.

  • [Jeremy Garchow] “In all seriousness, they keep touting the support of “full resolution 4k video”.”

Don’t ask Larry Jordan anything about 4K.

He’s hosting a seminar on the subject ‘4K & Final Cut Pro X’ on Nov 12th in Burbank

Can’t believe it’s not to do with the new MacPro and updated FCPX.

I noticed that there is CLogtoRec709 setting which could be useful as I film with Clog switched on pretty much all the time but as with all these plugin the proof will be in the pudding if you know what I mean.

Certainly more useful than the latest Cineflare plugin ‘Handheld’ which simulates rubbish, out of focus, shaky camerawork. This could put me out of work.
