Throwing a 1/2 plusgreen gel on your lights will also help reduce the green spike.
On a side note, I recently shot in a newly renovated conference room. There was no way to turn off the overhead “flourescents” so I asked to open the panels and simply unscrew the bulbs. To my happy surprise, all the fixtures were LED. No green spike. Downside; they couldn’t be disconnected.

Since moving to a new job in Baltimore a few years ago I kind of drifted away fro the Cow. I have benefited greatly from both of you, Ty and Richard, in more situations than you could imagine. I am truly thankful for your generosity over the years sharing your knowledge. In this case, you given me some great ideas toward a possible solution and understanding that the cable may not be the only issue here.
I’m getting a fairly loud hum and can easily trace it to the communications snake in the conference room tables in the brand new corporate office. I’m the first one to shoot in there. I’ve dealt with this many times over the years and always solved it by moving my cable. One cable definitely failed in this situation. The other was far better when I moved it away from that source, though not completely quiet. This is why I figured better shielded cables may do the trick. Worth a shot.

Thanks everyone for your input. The possible use for this certainly is limited and the specific use I am planning for probably is the ideal one for this. My subjects will be seated in front of a window and I can control the angle. I’ve done years worth of green screen, not desired here and straight nd on windows, changing background light means changing nd; not practical.
Fortunately the cost is okay for me. I plan to contact Rosco and quiz the heck out of them before considering a purchase. I’ll keep you all apprised of the outcome.
    Happy Holidays!

Do you mean my question makes no sense or the fact that it is happening makes no sense.

I’ve been transcoding AVCHD to ProRes422 in Prelude and everything works smoothly. I use Prelude because I work with four other editors and we have a media management system that picks up the metadata we input in Prelude so all of us can find assets on our server.

Thanks so much for your reply Ht. Our Avid editor prefers DNxHD because he’s had some issues with ProRes, but that could be his issue. He may actually be switching to Premiere Pro to be in line with our four other systems. I’m still waiting for one simple standardized codec, (ha). I liked the days of tape where if you couldn’t play the format sent to you the solution was easy. Just purchase a $40,000.00 deck and move on.

Thanks Tero. That is a good article. I’m going with PsF29.97 AVCHD for run-and-gun and will use ProRes for most of my stuff once the SSD drive comes in for the Ninja.

I spoke with Canon yesterday. PF29.97 is indeed 30P but it is put in a 59.94i wrapper because some NLEs work with that better. You are actually getting 30p. I asked about the mp4 version of 30p in the C100 and was told that is more compressed for smaller file size to go direct to web and that AVCHD is the higher quality choice. You could record at 60P which is sharper and higher bit rate. I however prefer 30P over 60P because I like that it feels a bit more filmic and 24p I’d only reserve for something dramatic, not corporate. 60P is just too crisp for me and I only use it for slomo.
