Hi.
I think in linux you could combine different computers. With pcie etc expanders you could get som more gpu’s possibly but machines internal data band with will be limiting factor here.
Lets say you have 3 gpu’s and array etc connected one machine and in one point it all slows down dramatically as internal bus is full. This is where 100 k linux comes in with lets say 8 streams of 2k.
But this is just my guess.

I bet you set input processing from control panel SD to HD.
My digibeta input went away before i could test this.
Now it is all file based 🙂
Test this out and let us know?

Sonds like dedicated encoding hardware will be the solution or mpg2 capture card.
Really beefy computer will also do the trick but not as fast.In the other hand why do you need dvd. There is a lot of stuff that plays out files directly.

Have you seen your preferences panel ?
Maybe you just have by default component in selected.
Then you could stand on your head and you will not get no signal ever until you change it to SDI.First check this. If it is SDI and it seems working then make sure fcp and camera have the same settings.
If this also does not work, try to install drivers again.
