I think it really depends how you like to go.
No just one way.
General workflow stuff is really common on any platform not just resolve to fcp.
Good example is speed changes that Ola pointed out.
This is just common sense that you will have baked in speed in final renders considering
the tools you have.
Other way would be to grade “base” material around this area and later reconnect to
fcp. I would make managed project out of fcp and get rid of speed changes
before going to resolve. Then grade this and later go back to fcp to reconnect
to this managed project. Should be pretty simple.
