I think this is a problem with windows and possibly your graphics card, not AE. So I think you should try posting it in a windows forum.

Try activating page file for a temporary fix. You should check in the resources monitor, to see how much memory AE is actually using, and if any other programs are using a lot of memory.

You should also do a malware and virus scan, just incase.

I suggest you post the exact warning message you get.

  • Thanks for your reply.

Yes, Linear, but I tried all others. I don’t know if it matters, but it’s 100 to 0, not 0 to 100. I understand they are the same position.

I’m usualy quite good at this, I had already tried dividing the number of frames(149) by 100, then – from 100 to get the last point level(99.328%). But thats where I got stuck.

I don’t understand “delete the last frame and move the “one before to the last place”.

EDIT: The first time I divided frames, because the velocity doesnt show up, and it wasn’t a smooth annimation, I thought it didn’t work. However, I have now realised that the ‘dividing by 100’ method wouldn’t work, as I changed the velocity in the 149 frames. I guess that’s what you meant when you asked if it was linear? I thought you meant the 149th frame point type. I now added the keyframe, and removed the last frame and everything is as smooth as silk.

    thanks for help anyway…

Wow, thanks for the project file. I wish I’d seen that before! I just couldn’t get it to work smoothly with the effector. You’ve got it working great.
I ended up using Splines, which worked well, but I’m fussy, so it was a lot of work, you should see how many expression nodes I used to get it right. I did add other things though, like variable vibration, to get the speaker moving more.

Thanks for your help; I learned a lot.

    Is it a Lite limitation?
Maybe you just can’t choose default save location in Lite?

August 19, 2015 at 3:04 pm in reply to: Newbie Question: Attaching Speaker Rubber Surrounds

Thanks Brian, These are all great suggestions.

When I read your first reply, I actually tried it out(but with additional splines for the rubber’s curve) , and with some relative individual movement to the intermediate splines via Xpresso it did act correctly.

But in the interest of learning, I want to try your second(well, third) answer, using points with Sound Effector.

However, I am stuck trying to model the speaker cone, rubber and box as a single object; when I [Mesh>Conversion>Connect] objects, they get placed in the same polygon object but are still seperate polygon groups. Is there a way to really connect them together, so that they are actually joined polygons?

As an example, i will mention that when I wanted circular air holes in the box, I attempted to do so by creating a simple disc, then placing it on the box where I wanted the hole, then Connecting the box and disc objects and then deleting the polygons from the disc(in the new object) so I would be left with a perfect circular hole in the box. Needless to say; it didn’t work. The disc polygon group was just deleted and the box was still in one peice. I thought this ‘merging’ of objects would be an easy process in 3D design software. But then I also thought creating a hole in an object would be easy. Huh.

    Thanks,
    Marc

  • Ok thanks Dan, I reloaded the project and its back centered. Must be a bug or something.

All Sorted. Thanks for your help.

  • Hi Dan,
Thanks for your answer, but it’s CS6 and there is no compositing option for the effects.

However, you did point me in the right direction; I researched the compositing effects option and found that the outcome is similar to the “Blend with original”(“Blend”) effect, which I then applied to the layer. I can now control the effects on/off with the 0-100% slider which I can control with keyframes.

I wonder if you help me with one more thing, Dan?
Everything was ok for the first few hours, then all of a sudden the text moved to the top-left corner, with the container still centre!(‘undo’ does nothing)
If I disable the Blend effect, it moves back to centre.

    The “Blend” properties are:
    Blend with Layer : [5.Text Layer(this)]
    Mode : [Crossfade]
    Blend with Original : [0.0%]
If Layer Sizes Differ: [Centre] (or [Stretch to Fit])

Do you have any insight into this problem?
    Thanks
