After it’s available for Mac (presumably sometime after an announcement at NAB) I’ll be keen to try it. Motion has been able to fill my motion graphics needs for almost entirely for the last few years- but I’d like an alternative for more complex compositing. I’d love to see that stuff in Motion, but at this point I’m doubtful Apple are chasing that space.

Arment hasn’t owned Instapaper for a few years, so probably not.

The biggest downside to X2Pro alternatives is the lack of Roles support. X2Pro carries your Roles metadata over into the AAF (you can even change the order in the X2Pro app). Meaning when your engineer opens up your AAF in ProTools it will be all nicely organized and named.
My sound engineers love me!

There’s been much discussion about the usefulness of these. I think that any use as simple shortcuts to command-keys; you’re probably better to learn the keyboard shortcuts and just do good keyboard mapping. Cause once you know them you can do them without looking, which you can’t really do with a tablet.
The best functions for iPads would be things people are already using control surfaces for- like colour correction or audio mixing. In a perfect world I see Apple creating its own app for this, like they did for LogicProX.

Where? We’ll have to see- this is the first big studio feature since X launched in 2011. Previous to that Apple did lots of PR pieces on their work with Copola, the Cohens, Fincher, etc…
So we’ll have to see if it’s just another “In Action” article. I hope not.

Where?Anyone who’s spent so much time in this thread fighting the fact that Apple AND Adobe are bound to PR schedules for the films they’re involved with is either nutty or trolling.
Either way it’s pointless to argue with him.

Other than the blanket announcement “GONE GIRL TO BE CUT ON PREMIER”, none of the numerous BTS stuff from Adobe or the article here on Creative Cow were published until October, and mostly November- AFTER the film was released.

This monitor fascinates me- but I’m still inclined to go for a second 27″ Apple screen cause- heck! I’ve already got one and they’ll match… and second, while the very wide screen gives you lots of horizontal timeline real-estate, I still feel you have more flexible layout options with the second screen.
Of course, as I’ve said before, the second screen option I want most is the one they don’t offer, which would be to throw the Project (and presumably Timeline Index and Effects Browser) to the second display, giving you OODLES of vertical height for complicated timelines.

November 10, 2014 at 8:55 pm in reply to: Why new final cut X is so RESTRICTIVE with connected clips? I DO NOT SEE ANY BENEFIT[jb yong] “I like magnetic timeline where you can move clips around and other clips will automatically move to make room for it. This save time.
So can we disable connected clips and let us enable tracks just like better easier to use FC7.
“But here’s the thing, you CANNOT have a magnetic timeline with FCP7 style tracks. If you did, the point of tracks would be completely undermined, with clips bouncing from track to track.
A track is a kind of analogue metadata, in the same way as a bin was in FCP7. While I admit the solution isn’t complete, in the end I believe Roles will perform the same function in the timeline that keywords and Smart Collections do in an Event.
But Roles tagging needs improvement- here’s some recent thoughts from my blog,
