I am new to this forum, so I hope it’s OK to post on this thread, since my question falls within the scope of the original post, and I didn’t want to create a new redundant thread.

I am working on an archive of recorded performances for a university, and I have a very specific workflow. The university will only take miniDV tapes, and the best available original material is on VIDEO_TS, since the companies do not have the unauthored files anymore. Also, the VIDEO_TS includes subtitles, which I have to embed in the DV files.
So this is what I want to do: go from a VOB file to a DV file with embedded subtitles, which I will then export to miniDV tapes.

My absolute priority is loosing as little quality as possible, since whatever I submit to the university will be archived, and I can’t change it later.

The second priority would be to have as little steps as possible, since I have over 100 hours in video that I have to process.

Processing time or intermediary file size are not issues.

What would be the best tool here? From browsing the forums, it seams Mpeg Steamclip is highly regarded, but doesn’t do subtitles. iMedia Converter, mentioned in this post, seems to handle the job, but I haven’t seen it mentioned in other places in the forum. What would people recommend?
