I can’t open that screenshot file, that link doesn’t work.

Chances are the frame rate of your media does not match the frame rate of your project thus it wouldn’t quantize to frames. So one thing you could try is to ensure your project setting (and especially the frame rate!) does exactly match your media settings.

Which build of Vegas Pro 12 do you use?

Did you try turning GPU support off in “Options/Preferences/Video”?

  • When exactly does it crash?

Yes, Vegas Pro can also import and edit DPX and EXR images (or image sequences). Selecting a Vegas Pro floatpoint project you would even maintain EXR’s floatpoint properties (16 or 32 bit).

  • In Movie Studio there is no “Nesting” (Vegas Pro only) and Pan/Crop can only be applied to single Events.

So the most comfortable way to do what you want in Movie Studio 14 Platinum is to use “Parent-Child-Tracks” and “Parent Animation”:

    – Create one new Video Track on top of the timeline
    – Make all the other Video Tracks “Compositing Childs” of the first Video Track.
    – Use “Parent Animation” (on the left side of the first Video Track’s header which is the Parent Track now) to animate all the Child Tracks.

This is a known bug of the new so4compoundplug.dll. You could disable this component in the internal preferences, see -> here.

I can only tell for the EBU naming convention. Here only full frames per second are counted and the “i”/”p” tell it is interlaced/progressive.

Thus according to EBU at this time there is no 50i or 59,94i or 60i video standard because this would mean it’s 50/59,94/60 full frames per second according to 100/119,88/120 fields interlaced.

According to EBU 25i are 50 fields counted as 25 full frames each second – 29,97i are 59,94 fields counted as 29,97 full frames each second.

You would start placing your elements at the very beginning of the timeline and start your video 1 minute, 30 seconds and 0 Frames after.

“Is placing the bars, tone, and countdown at 58:30:00 on the timecode even necessary if I’m rendering to an MP and delivering via FTP?”

That’s something only your customer could tell.

“… starts at 1 hour” means at a timecode value of 1 hour (or 10 hours), not after a duration of 1 hour.

We typically started the timecode at 09:59:00:00, use 50 seconds of EBU chart including a 1 kHz test tone, followed by 10 seconds of black. Thus video starts at timecode value 10:00:00:00. But this is after one minute.
