September 21, 2018 at 6:59 pm in reply to: FCPX Spatial Conform stretched only via Decklink Monitor OutputIt’s a regular 16:9 footage, 1920×1080, that DCP has to convert to 1998×1080, Flat DCP, 1.85
The project came from FPCX xml, from a regular 1920×1080 timeline. I followed Mixing Light instructions on how to make a DCP on resolve. Created the timeline for a Flat DCP.Hackintosh

September 19, 2018 at 7:45 pm in reply to: FCPX Spatial Conform stretched only via Decklink Monitor OutputYes, the image is occupying the whole screen of the LG monitor, when it should show black bars according to scale configurations inside resolve. Resolve GUI shows it correctly. The TV has some Aspect Ratio Settings:
16:9
Original
4:3
Vertical Zoom
All-direction ZoomThe zooms are no good. And the Original has no effect.

Another weird issue that I noticed tonight when exporting a DCP with Resolve’s new feature, is that output Scalling “Scale Full Frame with crop”, does show the correct black vertical bars on Davinci’s viewer, but this time, not on the TV.

The monitor has bad aspect custom system that’s worthless
Decklink can de set to whole Bunch of outputs, 4k dci, 2k dci, hd, etc… Virtually all of then. Nothing works’
Maybe is the 2K thing. I set the project in FCPX to 1920×1080. Than created a letterbox on top. It was a strange way, once FCPX can output on it’s guis the perfect aspect. If you guys now another way, please let me know. Thanks a lot

You’re probably right. But as I’m working with a 4k monitor, grading at half res seems fine, no? I read the iMac Pro maxed out is still underpowered when it comes to 8k raw – so prores raw sounded like a “maybe”. Looking out for the new External GPU support, though. Do you know how big a difference should it make on Resolve? I could upgrade my system for this project, but as a Mac guy, I’m not comfortable in buying a very $$$ iMac Pro maxed out, and still don’t be able to go all the way 8K raw. Do you think that with an eGPU it should work? And which would be the top of the line? I am intending to go for an 8K monitor soon. Thanks a lot.

Thanks for the response. Prores raw is suposed to be lighter/more computer friendly. It is very hard to grade Red 8K raw image. I own a iMac maxed out (not pro), and davinci gets very clumsy with R3D raw. My thoughts are that davinci will probably incorporate the new prores raw. If we could convert from R3D footage to prores raw, without quality loss, it would be good thing, wouldn’t it? Maybe 8K raw HALF/RES PREMIUM realtime grading and playback.

Thanks for the response -

February 12, 2017 at 10:43 am in reply to: FCPX 10.3 Roles assigned in project are nor recognised in EventsYes it is weird – I didn’t even use the event window. I ended up changing each clip in the event list, and it worked, sort of… Used x2Pro, but still a lot of menor errors, specially with subroles.
But thanks a lot for the response, baby is on the move now
