[Doug Metz] “Couple of questions (assuming the footage was captured with FCPX via FireWire, yes?):

If you play back the captured footage directly in QuickTime, do you still have a sync issue?
If so, does the audio get progressively more out-of-sync as you go further into the clip (in QT)?

    Yes I captured via FireWire.

I played back the footage in QuickTime and it was out of sync, and got progressively more out of sync as it does in FCPX.

Any other opinions/suggestions on how I can capture directly into FCPX using a Sony VX1000(adjust capture settings)?

    Thanks

It would just be a lot easier to capture straight from FXPX. I haven’t tried your original suggestion of opening a new project starting at 32kHz but I will tomorrow.

Another question: I am able to get any past version of FCP from a friend, if I am only going to be using the VX1000 would it be better to just get an older version? Not just for capturing purposes but in general. I guess this is starting a whole new topic, but I would appreciate your insight. You may not be familiar with my specific camera, but would it make more sense using an older, mini dv tape using camera, with an older FCP?

    Thanks a lot…

Ok, not being able to control the capture settings is probably strictly not allowed in FCPX then, correct? It seems that it was easily possible in older versions. Can anyone else confirm all of this?

Assuming I’m forced to use another program to capture, what program would you recommend that I most likely already have or can download for free? I have heard that capturing in iMovie decreases quality, and was unaware you can capture in Quicktime.

    Thanks again

Ok, Does anyone know if this will change the capture settings? If not, how can I do this?

    Thanks
