As a side, it’d be neat if there were a way to make the string snap as well. So far, I can use the puppet tool to animate an image file of a string, but it would be preferable if it could be a little more automated.

Thanks Walter! I think that’s what I’m looking for.

Sorry for any confusion. I’m not trying to place a layer in ‘time’ but in 3d space.

Cassius Marques, you’re probably right. I’m too deep into the project at this point to start over and check if that’s what it was, but I’ll check when I start another project.

Ted, I’m pretty positive that’s not true. I mix 2D and 3D layers all the time.

Hmmm, I’ve heard of some codec issues with footage originating from DSLRs, but I re-encoded it using an animation codec…

That might be it though. I’m still working with CS4

Solution for now: make every layer in the comp 3D. As long as the 3D switch is on, it shows up…

Also, there’s a particle system in another comp and if I turn on the 3D switch for the .png file in that comp, everything but the .png file and the particle system vanish. The particle system also shrinks down to a quarter of it’s size…

Never mind. It seemed to have fixed itself. I have no explanation. I didn’t change anything in my procedure.
