Yeah, I’ll be doing some tests this weekend.

  • Thanks for helping to guys. I’m done with that project, but I still want to figure this out. I’ll let ya know what happens.

  • Yeah, that’s not working. they need to follow the first blade, but all be offset at the end so they sit end to end.

I’m out of time for this.

  • I’ll try that when I get back to the stuido, but wouldn’t they still end up at the smae point in space?

  • As of now, I can get the blades to start lined up right, but they stary in the middle of the animation.

I’ve tried this with and without roving keyframes.

  • Are you talking about just selecting all the keyframes and dragging them to the left or right?

I can’t do that, being that I only want to adjust the X coordinate. These are 3D layers as well.

Maybe I should just describe exactly what it is that I’m trying to do.

I have this logo that has a chainsaw wrapped around it. I have all the chainsaw blades separated into individual layers. I want them to move around the logo like a real chain saw.

So, I animated the first blade. Obviously I don’t want to animate the rest of the blades individually. I just want to duplictae the layer and off set it so that all the blades are aligned from end to end.

    Hopefully that makes sense?

    Thanks for the advice Kevin.

What Dave? You’re supposed to change it to another codec? I’m working with 1080 30p footage that was exported from Avid as an uncompressed QT. How am I suppossed to change it? Do I do this when I export it from Avid? What codec am I supposed to use?

Did I miss the huge memo on this?

Yeah, I understand that that clip length will change do to the speed. However, sometimes, the clip will just go black. It’s as if it shortened it, but I can’t find any glimpse of it all up and down the timeline.

for example, I wanted to ramp a clip up to 200%. If I just typed in 200, it would disappear, I tried ramping it up slowly. I could get up to 116%, but it would disappear after that. I couldn’t see the clip no matter how far I scrolled left or right in the timeline.

Thanks for the ramping tip though. I don’t think I had that quite right. I was starting at 200 and then ramping down to 100.

The distortion is more akin to a warp effect or something. It’ll just do it at the tail end of the clip.

I hope that all isn’t as confusing as hell.

    Thanks for the help.

Thanks! I don’t know what the switch looks like, but I’ll find out.

Yeah, that’s what I thought Darby. I just couldn’t get it to look right.
