So if I understand you correctly. Animate the disk as a seperate comp, then import that comp into the main comp and apply the effect to the imported comp itself?

I never see anything in the preview window when I have that kind of….nesting I think it’s called.

Thank you so much re/that green trail. I thought it was a particle effect because in later shots there’s some acceration of that disk, and you can see the trail begin to appear, but yah just a gradient layer would do that.

I’m glad that environment is feasible with the AE engine I wasn’t looking forward to figuring out how to cell shade, and map textures within a 3d program, which I’m sure is how some parts of the sequence were made.

So is it possible to create those 3d light spheres in AE? Would they have to be imported? We’ll see.

Hi, I’m new as well. Have you checked your preferences under Memory&Cache to see how much maximum RAM is allocated?

Never mind, I just found out. That’s expensive hardware! O.O I’ll go with your suggestion, but how exactly is it set up? Is it a simple PnP daisy-chain setup?

What kind of hardware could I buy? 😉 Camcorders are rare ’round these here parts!

What program do you use exactly to get those (correct jargon?) interpolated frames?

Because in the Matrix they didn’t start out smooth, it was still pretty stuttering until they did post computer work on the shots.

This is all so interesting! Great question! Since I’m new I’m sure this is wrong, but it’s just what popped into my head. A theory if you will 😉

If a layer is 2d and there are 3d layers on top of that layer, would the 2d layer always remain behind since there is no Z value for it’s position? You could use that for the “overwhelmingly large” backdrop that never seems to move in space. Or if you find it does move out of frame when you move the camera, you could parent it’s attributes to the camera attributes so it appears to stay at infinite distance. @.o

Or maybe render all the close camera moves seperately with a blank space, then with layer blending/alpha trickery drop an AVI background behind all that.

Hope this tickled your brain a little…? 🙂
