Hi Brian,
Yes, if the disc is 8.4 GB that’s surely a dual-layer disc.
I make almost all the time single layer DVD’s, once upon a time long-long ago the program was way too long to fit on a usual single-layer DVD, so then I had to create a dual-layer. I have some shaded memory about struggling similarly with layer break (switch) then.I’ll dig my archives if I still have that project, and return to you with the solution (if I find it).

Hi Brian,
Is it by any chance a double-layer DVD?

Hi,
For me it looks like the peak files (.sfk) are not built, or corrupted.
What if you press shift-F5 (view/rebuild audio peaks)?Best regards

Hi,
I’d try the setup as you mentioned avg-max-bitrate set to the same. If they accept it, that’s nice.
While they are evaluating, I’d keep looking for an external encoder (handbrake maybe?) which can encode to CBR.
I loked at ffmpeg (my all time converter), because my first thought was to render to a losless avi from vegas and feed ffmpeg with it to output CBR h.264. But ffmpeg doesn’t have CBR either. Well, it’s possible to set it to use the same bitrate for min-max-avg, but it’s just the same hack as in Vegas ☹
Regarding handbrake I don’t have any experience with it, just read about it here on the forum. Wayne Waag posted about how to use it with Vegas.Best regards

I have a JVC HM600. Mostly record to mp4 as well (28Mbps/AVC).
I just let Vegas import the media via device explorer (ctrl-alt-7), and never had any problem.
Did you try this way?Best regards

Hi,
I never bother with I/O points. If it’s really that simple as it the OP suggests, I would just use the keys ‘S’ and ‘delete’.
-Add the video to the timeline.
-get the playhead (cursor or whatever it is called) at the first position you need a cut.
-press ‘S’ (split).
-move the cursor to the next position where you need a cut, then press ‘S’ again. (Sidenote: ‘S’ splits the currently selected event at the cursor, if nothing is selected, everything on the timeline is split at that point)
Now you have split your original material into 3 pieces.
Select a piece (by clicking it) you don’t need and press’delete’ key.
Repeat as necessary.
It can be that simple I think…If you ever will have more than one audio and video track, I’d recommend against autoripple.

Hi,
I’d try the “Iris” transition.
Create the text with the background on a track above your video. Then use iris transition from transparent to the “text” and back. Look for the preset from top-right, and remove the border, that will look quite similar ☺Best regards

February 23, 2017 at 7:47 am in reply to: Major issues with Vegas 14 no matter what I do pc game footage is always pixely grainy and broken upHi Paul,
PAL is 25 fps which can be 50i. 50p is double PAL ????
To the OP:
Can you post a screenshot of your render settings?
Do you have by any chance “use deblocking filter” enabled?
(I suspect, this is a common mistake of game-players that they think this helps achieve better quality render even at an insane high bitrate…)Best regards
