You need to clean out some space on your hard drive. I have the same problem sometimes. Just clean out some space on your hard drive and you should be good to go. Big projects have that issue sometimes.

Awesome! Thank you so much for your help and patience! I was worried I’d have to find another program or some kind of update to achieve the effect I’m after but you changed my mind! =) Thanks again!

Targa files are a no-go. As far as I have been able to find, NO FILE type with a transparent layer will hold its transparency in Premiere 6.5. Premiere substitutes the transparent layer with white. My question is, if I CANNOT import a pre-made transparent layer and I have my choice of color, what is the cleanest way of removing a certain color inside of Premiere? What is the most effective key type for removing a set color? (Chroma key? RGB Difference? Blue Screen? Green screen? etc) If I have my choice of key type, what would most effectively remove whatever color I chose?

I think you’re getting this error because you’re clicking Record before your computer HAS anything TO record. You have to hit play on your camera, and THEN start Recording that batch. Since you don’t have a tape deck, you have to play/stop/rewind, whatever manually. I think that’ll solve your prob.

I use Premiere 6.5, but have worked along-side music pros, so the rules in audio quality apply universally. From what I’ve gathered/experienced, your export audio rate (Hz) needs to equal the audio rate of the file you’re using. (ex. If you’re using a 44000 Hz audio file, your export setting should be the same. 32000 = 32000 and so on down the line.) I’m no audio pro, but from my experience, matching the audio rates up has cut down the audio skips and static.
————-HOWEVER, sometimes (and I don’t know if this is just a Premiere 6.5 glitch or what) I’ll match up the PROJECT SETTINGS to my audio file rate, and the glitches start up AFTER matching up the rates. Oddly enough, this issue was resolved by reverting the Project Settings to whatever it was set to originally. But, the rule of thumb is to match up the Hz of your audio file to the Hz of the your export/project settings. Oh, and just in case you need to know, you can check the Hz of your file by just right-clicking it and clicking Properties, and you adjust the Hz of your export by clicking the Settings box after selecting Export Movie/Audio. I hope this helps. Let me know if you need anything else, or if this was unhelpful.

I have captured video in two manners in my experience, using a tape deck and directly from camera-computer. From what I gathered from your post, it sounds like your going directly from cam-comp, right? If that’s the case, you don’t need to activate device control. Just go File > Capture > Movie Capture. Make sure your camera’s on, hit play on the camera’s playback, and record in the Adobe Capture window. I’m no pro, but I don’t think Adobe CAN control a cam-corder. I think that answers your problem. But IF you’re using a tape deck and are having device control probs, check the Help to make sure that your deck is compatible with Adobe. Hope that helps ya out. Let me know if ya need anything else.

After Effects huh? Thanks, I’ll look into that. See, the original purpose of this post was: I’m attempting to place high quality pictures of faces on top of animated sequences. So, as far as I can tell, I have two options: import a PNG with an opaque background around the faces (which Premiere 6.5 cannot), OR import pictures with a solid green, blue, red, whatever background and remove it with the alpha key. But now that you know what I’m after, my question is: Is there a CLEANER way to remove a background from a high quality pic? This project will be used in a commercial, which is a first for me, so I’m after the highest quality possible with what I’m using. Are there different transparency settings that more effectively achieve what I’m after, or picture file types that are more effecient in Adobe? Any help in this matter would be awesome. Thanks again.

Sorry. Meant version 6.5, but I have a feeling that doesn’t solve my problem eh? But if an upgrade is my only option, that answers my question. Thank you very much. HAHA, I didn’t expect to get an answer in
2 hours? Thank you very much for your time!
