Thanks Tim. I really hope I can get this configuration to work as it is the second set of equipment I have tried with LTO6.

I changed the Max I/O Transfer Size to 512kb within the ATTO Configuration Tool and it seems to be working a lot better. Haven’t had any errors!

    Fingers crossed.

I will get an “EINVAL in write” error during a backup followed by a bunch of “device not ready” errors. And then sometimes the tape drive will suddenly disappear and I will get “cannot open device” errors when I try to do anything because my system all of a sudden isn’t seeing the device at all.

I have just updated the drivers and firmware so I know they are up to date.

Hi Tim. How about a SAS Tandberg LTO6 drive with an ATTO ThunderLink SH 1068 on a Mac Mini?

I just set this configuration up a few days ago and it has worked all right for the most part but I have a couple IO errors.

    Thanks!

Thanks! I will look into these options. At the time, I just didn’t think twice about going FC because we had no problems with the previous drives.

  • Thanks for the responses, guys. I really hadn’t done much research into it yet but I am now realizing that it probably won’t be possible. And we will most likely be buying TTT Tim, thanks. 🙂

Thank you! This was helpful. I will look into using a third party application for our day to day backups, but I was just looking for some further information on how the Finder interacts with LTFS because I really hadn’t been having these problems with any of my other systems. So I still don’t really know why this one system is having these issues but I have been following those rules you gave and I haven’t had any problems today. So thanks for the information.
