November 15, 2014 at 12:19 am in reply to: Create Filter to Locate Clips W/O Proxies BuiltHi Bryson,
Thank you for your feedback and helpful input.
I believe the only reason I have had to point the path, or show CatDV, to link the proxies is due to my initial proxy mapping. I think I made it too specific. Though I have not had any difficulty adding a new path, I understand having too many paths can eventually result in trouble too.
I’m going to try removing the current, deep paths and back up the primary path a few folders in the file structure. As you suggest, I think that will lead to CatDV automatically acknowledging the proxies when a catalog is opened and new proxies are available for reference in the default, main proxy location.
I will take a look at the SBS site you reference. I appreciate you providing these additional resources.
Have a lovely weekend,
Lindsay

November 13, 2014 at 8:47 pm in reply to: Create Filter to Locate Clips W/O Proxies BuiltThanks to you both for the input!
I have come up with a completely different solution in the end.
I wanted to create the search filters because I have experienced several proxy build failures when large selections of clips are left to build overnight.
I am using a standalone version of CatDV, no Workgroup or Enterprise client.
I decided to run a test and build proxies using Adobe Media Encoder and then link the proxy path back in CatDV. This worked without a hitch as AME seems to be a more robust encoder.
So alas, the need for a proxy ‘filter’ has become obsolete.
Thanks again!

March 20, 2013 at 6:01 pm in reply to: Importing FCP7 XML (produced in CatDV) to PPro CS6Hi Rolf,
I have downloaded and installed the demo CatDV 10 provided by Squarebox, and then began testing XML files again.
The same issue is recurring. XML imported into CatDV (from PPro export) produces a squeezed image in the catalog and vice versa. In fact, now the drag/drop function from CatDV into PPro is not working at all.
Would you like some test XML files?
I have started exploring the Paste Metadata function beginning with this post: https://forums.creativecow.net/thread/278/1878
Will this tool only operate with CatDV or can metadata be pasted between PPro and CatDV, for example? My initial tests indicate it is only functional with CatDV between catalogs.
Thanks for your feedback,
Lindsay

Nope, no issue with the Calibrated suite. I was just hoping to avoid dropping more funds on yet another plug-in, but alas the Calibrated purchase was made and is working well. I just wish it had the ability to encode XDCAM EX QTs and not just decode them for playback.
Thanks for the feedback.

February 27, 2013 at 6:04 pm in reply to: Problem with XDCAM Video Previews with CatDV 9 Pro and Calibrated SoftwareWhoops! I made the rookie mistake of failing to mention that I am working on a PC based system.
Bob, it appears based on this user manual that the ‘Refresher’ feature is a Mac-only feature. Bummer.
Oh well, at least my XDCAM media is my smallest library. Looks like I’ll be re-importing manually for now.
Thanks again

June 21, 2012 at 10:50 pm in reply to: Cache-A Tape Catalog Errors — Occurence Increasing in FrequencyI have just acquired a universal LTO cleaning cartridge, and have one more question before I run the cleaner. I took a look at the new v2.1 manual and noted the new section on ‘Cleaning’. There is no reference to any procedure that needs to be initiated etc. for cleaning to commence when the cleaning cartridge is inserted. This leads me to assume that the only step is insert the cleaning cartridge and the Cache-A drive will take it from there. Should I be aware of an extra step/procedure that needs to occur for the clean session to run?
Thank you,
Lindsay

June 21, 2012 at 4:44 pm in reply to: Cache-A Tape Catalog Errors — Occurence Increasing in FrequencyThank you for the valuable information. I don’t believe we have come close to hitting the 50 tape mark, but as you note there are many factors involved. I will proceed with the head cleaning as you suggest, start archiving again and report back it that doesn’t solve the issue.
