When I got that message, I went back to my sequence and added an “in” at the beginning of my timeline and an “out” at the very last frame. Compressor worked just fine then.

Thank you. I was afraid that I might be degrading the footage by the capture settings or using the wrong capture device (Canon). I work with different camera people who all have their own equipment, so my playback device (via tape) is just a consumer HD camera. Any comments or getting the best quality footage while capturing?
