Its a shame because I don’t think Sony offer another handheld product that would comply.

That list is interesting – shooting Super 16 and scanning to 2k is out!

I use a 744 with the 3 cameras recently my new hvx200 as well, i use a time code slate and resync in Avid. Just make sure you set your file type to BWF Poly (or mono if you want, but i can’t see why) on the 744 and Avid reads no problem, then just use the Group clips function, less cables on set and less agro.

  • Thanks Barry,

I’ll try that in an AXP 25p project.

  • Hi Jan,

Thank you for taking the trouble to reply to me. Please be assured i am reading through pages E-33 to E-35 of the manual and maybe i am getting a little confused due to some ignorace on my part.

What i am trying to do is take advantage of the feature of dubbing down to dv over/under cranked stuff until i get native suppor in my NLE.

When i shoot 25pn/50fps and play back in MCR i can see the slow motion and it records to mini dv, but things that are moving in shot have an interlaced flicker when you watch it back off the dv tape

When i shoot 25p/50fps and play back in MCR it is not in slow motion and nor is it when i dub that down to tape.

It says on page E-35, “In the case of the 720p/25p format, the slow motion effect can be obtained by using a nonlinear editing system to process what has been recorded.” Which i don’t have i guess.

All i want to do is get the over/undercranked stuff off the P2 card onto dv tapes looking as smooth as it does when you play it stright of the camera

    Thanks again,

    Leon.

  • Hi,

….but you can’t shoot at 50fps in 720p only 720pn. Anything that is moving in shot you flickers with the next field visible when you dub down to dv tape.

    Hi,

With this Raylight does this mean that we could bring the 25p footage that we shot are variable frame rates into After Effects and then export to Avid Meridian Uncompressed so we can then use it in Avid? Is this a good workaround until Avid supports 25p for example?
