Thanks Bryson. I posted on another thread, that I’m just going to try to create proxies that CatDV can read. That way we can still keep our original clips, since we can edit just fine with them in Premiere. I’m still having trouble with the proxies, but I’ll leave that to the other thread, which is here: https://forums.creativecow.net/readpost/278/3007

    Thanks

This thread has been very helpful, but I’m having trouble making CatDV see the proxies I’ve created. I have my original media in the location E:\Video Projects\B-Roll\General Terminal

I set my Path-Based Proxies location in the proxy manager to E:\CatDV Proxies\E\Video Projects

The names of the files are the same, except the extension. One of the original files is E:\Video Projects\B-Roll\General Terminal\20130123110536.m2ts. The path of the proxy file is E:\CatDV Proxies\E\Video Projects\B-Roll\General Terminal\20130123110536.mp4.

When I click on the video clip in the catalog, the proxy tab does not highlight.

Here’s a image of the proxy manager:

    Thanks for the help.

And one last question, not really related to this topic. The product info for the Pro version says there are unlimited user-defined logging fields. How many are there in the Standard version? I haven’t gotten far enough to figure out how to make custom fields, but I figured maybe I could get a quick answer here. Thanks!

Rolf, thank you for the help. I’m impressed that you actually saw my support email and are addressing it here. I’m glad that’s a known issue as well. I’ll make sure I have the correct file chooser selected in the preferences. I didn’t even bother looking at the preferences, and don’t think I’ve ever used a program where there was the option to choose between different file choosers like that.

Thank you for the help, and I’m looking forward to trying out the updated version.

Well, something interesting happened. I uninstalled and reinstalled it, and for some reason, the import window now looks different. Before it had the “slate” look like the rest of the program, and now it just looks like a normal Windows explorer window, and it works like it should. Doesn’t make a bit of sense to me, and right now I’m almost afraid to purchase it, because what if it wants to change again back to the other way?

I’ve also been getting weird errors when I click certain buttons, all related to Java. I emailed their tech support, but I don’t expect much since it’s just a demo, and even the paid customers only get 30 days of support. I’m on Win7-64 by the way.

I know this is kind of an old thread, but has there been any update on this issue? We are using a Sony NX5U and FS700, and they still aren’t playing within CatDV.

Bryson, you mentioned transcoding to another format. How do I know what is the best format to transcode to? And won’t that degrade the quality? I’m using the Adobe suite on a PC, so I think ProRes is out of the question.
