I tried the quicktime version of the H264 codec conversion and it failed 3X. However the Ipod/iPhone version finally worked. So thanks a lot. I’d love to get the FCP and Quicktime exports figured out but this will do for now.
thanks

Hey Simon. That is weird. I assume you are capturing your files to the HUGE hard drive and not the CPU. It sounds like an external hard drive is not quick enough or your decklink card is not doing its job but that seems impossible.
You should try and test and drag a file from your external hard drive to your computer and see if that clip will play running off your CPU.
Good Luck

January 27, 2008 at 5:14 pm in reply to: Problem exporting .mp4 or mpeg4 files from Final Cut and QuicktimeHey Shawn. I wanted to thank you and everyone for your help. I was able to finally get it to work after doing what you suggested by repairing permissions.
Hopefully this isn’t only a random thing that works once in awhile. I will check out those programs so thank sfor that info as well.
Cheers

January 22, 2008 at 7:42 pm in reply to: Problem exporting .mp4 or mpeg4 files from Final Cut and QuicktimeHey Russ. Unfortunately I have tried it exporting it first as a FCP quicktime movie and then opening it with the Quicktime player to then export it from Quicktime to an .mp4 H264 file and it crashes in the middle of it.
Now I haven’t tried reopening the FCP QT movie in final cut and export it that way but would assume it would crash like trying to export directly from FCP when it crashed.
I’ll go back to trying a few more things and see if I get a result. Thanks for inquiring.
Take Care

Hey Shane. Thanks for getting back to me. So it sounds like the best workflow would be to stick with one codec which is what I would prefer to do but unfortunately I am using the Panasonic P2 cards and to get game footage and then getting lots of post game interviews and the P2 cards and store aren’t big enough to hold everything.
I attempt a capture this week but I don”t think that Blackmagic supports this type of conversion:(
So right now I am shooting DVCPro HD 720p60 (60 frames a second) and then regular DV 29.97 for interviews. So it sounds like I am going to have to abandon the DVCPro HD codec even though it is much nicer. Or do you have a way that might work in your opinion once I get into FCP? A good sequence?
I appreciate the help.

This is very troubling guys but unfortunately true. It is happening to us on a job that I’m on. When you duplicate a sequence the duolicated sequence does not render. However what is even more puzzling is that we have some sequences that are orginals that have blur filters on them and it will randomly pick out certain sequences and not render them.
One thing is for certain…I’m not upgrading until apple sorts this out!
Thanks
