Thanks! That is a great tip. Now I can get the benefits of the patch without that bug. By the way the DLL can be found in:

    C:\Program Files\Adobe\Adobe Media Encoder CS4\ad2ac3dec.dll

    or

    C:\Program Files\Adobe\Adobe After Effects CS4\Support Files\ad2ac3dec.dll

I have production Premium as well.

    In XP:
Go to: Start > Control Panel > Add or Remove Programs > Adobe Creative Suite 4 Production Premium then click the Change/Remove button.

You’ll get the option to uninstall just Premiere Pro.

When you are done just use the install disks to reinstall just Premiere Pro. Make sure all of your other programs are closed and your Anti-virus software is off while installing.

I’m just glad someone else can benefit from my pain. Seriously though I wonder if this is a problem for everybody who uses mpg?

Ok, I also deleted the Media Cache folders as well to no avail.

I uninstalled v4.0.1 and reinstalled 4.0 and I am back in business.

Now I’m curious, has anyone else with version 4.0.1 been able to import .mpg files and get the audio to work?

I also just noticed that the audio waveform does not show up in any of the .mpg files in the timeline but the waveform for the .mp4 files does.

The audio does exist when I play the files in Bridge.

    Thanks, that looks useful.

I actually just found the problem. I have ZoneAlarm ForceField, which is a browser plugin that guards against malicious web sites. When that is not running I have no problems.

In Premiere Pro CS3 try: File > Export > Adobe Media Encoder. Most of the options there work great.

    That CinePak stuff is terrible.
