Thanks Jerry, I’ll give that a go. Rafael, this has happened in 3 different cameras so I can’t see how it could be the heads? I’ll try nonetheless.

Thanks for your reply. I’ll give that a go. Do I just connect using firewire?
I’ve spoken to the camera repair place and they are going to have another look at it. I don’t have the right kind of cable to connect firewire from camera to camera so I’ll order one and then when I get the camera back I can give that a go. Unless you know of another way to connect two cameras?Many thanks again for your help,

An update:
The JVC does now show the timecode, but only when rewinding and fastforwarding, not while playing. So it might not be anything to do with the timecode. It’s still not playing any audio though…

Thanks for you reply. Since my post, I had a go with an old JVC consumer cam I had, I’ve managed to capture some footage, but it was 4:3, but I’m yet to try with any 16:9 footage. I suspect it won’t work and will probably follow your advice and invest in a cheap widescreen Canon for capturing. The good news is it’s not my Macbook!I’ll also give the reset button a go first, hadn’t thought of that! Thanks again, it’s much appreciated,

It could have been that. I’ll import it into a new SD sequence and see if that makes a difference. Thanks for the help! 🙂

Thanks for getting back to me. I did actually try that in the end and it still didn’t work when I’d converted it to SD. I think I tried every setting in FCP before giving up. I had to finish this last night so ended up using a friend’s computer with Premiere Pro – where it worked straight away with absolutely no issues.If anyone can shed any light on what the problem could have been it still would be good for future reference. Because it worked in Premiere it seems it’s a setting in FCP not the camera.
