  • Dennis thank you so much for your quick response! Maybe on drive or limewire or similar?

  • Hi,

I have a lot of minidvs to digitize. I’d like to use an old MacPro 1.1 with MacOS 10.6.8 Snow Leopard I can’t use for almost anything else. I´ve tried with Premiere but it crashes at capture, not at editing.

I wonder if you could send me the FCP7 dmg to try. Thank you very much!

I have to work on many types of files (not only shooting, but also archive files) and some are bigger than 4gb. I need to have files organized in thematic bins in the same hdds. I first tried to use a NTFS mounter for mac and i lost all my data on external hdd (!!!, needed to recover with specific sotware!). Now i have been using exFat for 4 months, so far we are good, if anybody has more experience i would be grateful.

I work on Mac and have all my ext HDD formatted on exFAT.
My clients have no problems at all (Microsoft has an update for ex FAT and even Windows XP works perfect with it). I don’t know if they are another kind of issues with this format.

October 20, 2011 at 4:35 pm in reply to: Reading Metadata between CatDV and Premiere

    Hi,
I work in a small government archive and we are evaluating cat dv adquisition. We have some experience adding metadata to still images using IPTC. The issue is that not all applications may read metadata the same way. It could happen for example that what you write under “author” can move to “origin” in another app. We use AdobeBridge to index and a little free app to search called Kallimages.
According to different informations, as you say Adobe and Panasonic informs so, metadata can be inside video file container (avi, mov, etc) and catDV makes an sql data base using that data. Maybe the trial version of catDv does not allow to do so.
As we are thinking of using it, I would appreciate that you can tell me how you solved this issue.
    Thanks,
    Laura
