thanks for your fast reply. Currently, there are some deartifacter plugins like the Magic Bullet Deartifacter (part of Magic Bullet for Editors) or the G Nicer from Graeme Nattress (part of his Film Effects plugin set) or the Remove DV artifacts AE plugin by Stu Maschwitz. The way I understood it, those plugins do deartifacting by rebuilding the missing chroma information from the other channels of the picture.
So yes, the compression is right here in my files, but I hoped there was a way to reconstruct it. I just wanted to do it before color correction and effects work. Problem is, software-only FCP can only use a 4:2:2 timeline, so no matter what plugin I use, the signal will still be a 4:2:2, limited by FCP’s sequence preset. Not?
