  • Maybe, but there was a lot of booth shuffling this year – we (AJA) had our biggest booth ever in a new prime spot as did RED, right across the aisle in a huge booth that included a mini 6K IMAX theater! I think you just have to be willing and able to pony up. Avid has a nice booth in a great location – it just happens to be in a hall with mostly unrelated products – newbies heading NAB to check out post products in South Lower would probably assume Avid didn’t even show up.

  • Avid nees to wake-up and move their booth back down to South Lower next year. We had a number of people ask us at the AJA booth – in the middle of NLE/post heaven – ask where the Avid booth was. Yeah it’s upstairs surrounded by completely unrelated booths – strange.

Maybe for the 25 and under crowd that was clamoring around the BMD booth – but the CION is the real deal – 4 years in the making – this is NOT a wannabe camera, it’s a very well thought out pro camera with incredible features and build quality. A 5-time Emmy winning DP put it on his shoulder and stated it was the most comfortable camera he had ever held. I concur, the weight and balance and suede shoulder pad and awesome.

This was built by AJA engineers who have a true passion for cameras, especially classic film cameras like the NPR, AATON and SRII – can’t wait to buy mine 🙂

Boy are you wrong there – I was a beta tester from Premiere Pro 1 through the first CS suite. It was a disaster! No one at Adobe would listen to us, the program was chock full of bugs – I could write book on the nightmares of cutting a feature film in Premiere Pro 1.5. The Adobe reps at the time were great and did everything they could to help, but they weren’t engineers and could only do so much. There was even threats of lawsuits and pay-offs etc. It was bad…

It truly wasn’t until CC that I actually liked and used Premiere again. Since last June I’ve used Premiere CC on every paying gig I’ve cut – from national TV specials to indie features and a ton of other stuff – still some issues, but it can now sit proudly next to Avid and FCP 7 as a truly great NLE…

So it’s okay if you’re combating from your side of the aisle? Or are you calling yourself an idiot too?
