I forgot to mention that the internal drive I captured to is a secondary drive with nothing on it but the media, it is not the system drive.
I did however format it with extended journaling turned on, I read that if it’s not going to be a system boot up drive then there is no reason to turn this function on, is this correct? Anyway, I guess the point of all this is is the footage itself to blame, i.e. it captured with dropped frames and it’s playing back that way? I did not capture to the external drive because it is not large enough to hold all the data, it’s an old 120GB PC hard drive I put in an enclosure, the new secondary internal drive is a nice big 350 GB.
