The ability to color code clips/roles in timeline, as done in Logic Pro.

Did you perchance recently install some Audio Units? I have had odd behaviour in FCPX with certain AU plugins…….removal solved the problem. (Specifically AU’s created using the JUCE framework)

You might want to have a look at this thread….though it does relate to the browser section, it also affects the window layout problem. At least it did for me.

Another application to add would be Vordio https://vordio.net/ for those who wish to edit FCPX audio in an external track based DAW, in this case Reaper https://www.reaper.fm/

The ability to color code individual clips in the timeline. A function available in Logic Pro……brass tracks are light blue…..drums are red……. This would give one the ability to quickly view the locations of specific characters, scenes in relation to the overall timeline.

Are you using any third part Audio Units? I have found 2 that were causing FCPX disruption:
u-he plugins https://www.u-he.com/cms/

and
Argotlunar https://argotlunar.info/

The later plugin uses the Juce https://rawmaterialsoftware.com/juce.php
and though plugins using this do crash FCPX, it is an apple bug, not a plugin bug.

My suggestion is to remove all your Audio Units, see it FCPX starts up correctly and if it does, then load in the AU’s by manufacturer…..start FCPX…quit…on and on.
