    Thanks for the reply.

OK, it might be a field issue but it has been shot AND edited as interlaced. is there no way to keep that interlacing?

this edit came straight out of fcp. so there’s no ‘interpret footage’ there. media encoder also doesn’t have the option, which could be of use to an encode program i think. so if i need to interpret it by premiere pro as progressive i’ll add another step to my workflow and i’m losing my fields as well. don’t get me wrong: it IS already a solution i didn’t come up with but i’d like the best way to do this, since we will keep this way of working for the next few years.

i didn’t find any threads about media encoder not being able to downscale in a proper way, does anyone have this problem besides us?

i have read multiple threads here about the possibility for exporting encore subtitles. i’m currently working on a encore cs4 for MAC. if you have subtitle tracks in a timeline you can right-click the track and choose export subtitles. i was suprised as well that it was in there. it is very usefull, so there is a solution. i suppose it’s in cs5 as well…

If you try to get less disk space by transcode your avi’s into a smaller filesize-format, this is not the way to go either. You will get clips into your timeline that need rendering because your timeline settings are most probably not right.

By the way, Premiere only supports AVI on PC, on MAC it only supports MOV.

Having the same problems though building the dvd folder and previewing it with a software dvd player or burning it to a disc sometimes makes it right.
The miss alignment’s got something to do with pixel aspect ratio as i understand from other posts…

  • Did you try rendering the whole project and burning it to a disc or previewing it with a pc-based dvd player (NOT the encore-preview). I had a problem like that and it was just a preview issue.
