So I was wrong about the codec! It was divx, not xvid. Anything I need to do special to get Sorenson Squeeze to READ divx? It errors when I try to import the file type.

Indeed. Alright thanks. I’ll see if I can get anything good out of Squeeze or one of the ones you linked.

    Thanks for the links.

I guess what I’m wondering is… is there a program that will read xvid and print to tape? I’d like to avoid another compressing process because it’s already not top notch at the moment.

Or do either of those programs linked just encode without compressing somehow?

I have generally all the standard video editing relating software for a PC. Regardless of what I currently have, what’s the best software and technique to use? I’ll see if I can get the right software if I don’t have it.

    Yes, it has firewire.

  • Ok, good to know.

Thanks a lot. I think that answers the questions I have so far.

  • I’d like to be able to do HDV, since it’s growing in popularity.

Is firewire fast enough for SATA raid enclosure? If there IS a firewire port on one…

And what IS the video card? I don’t even see it listed on the mac specs at the Apple Store.

PC. I have Encore and to compress stuff I’ve been using Virtual Dub and Sorenson Squeeze. I don’t remember the name of the program that made them isos.

I’ll try some of these out.

    Thanks,
