Thank you. That will save me a lot of time.
I have been using Liquid Edition for the past 10 years.
Our shop (6 edit bays)is now switching to Adobe CS4-CS5. I have come to really like Premiere. But it’s hard for an old dog to learn new tricks. Not knowing how to do the simple things is the biggest frustration when learning a new system. I check this forum and others at the Cow daily. It is an incredible resource.

    Vince,
We usually save our masters as dv avi 25. I would prefer this but I could not set the frame to 920×720 in media encoder.
I made a version of the file with the settings you suggested.
I have never used a wmv as a master, but it looks fine. The slides look really good. The video is just speakers at a podium. And 1.5 gig is a lot more palatable than 227 gigs.

Let me make sure that I am clear on one point. You are suggesting that this wmv file would be sufficient for a master file. I never really thought of that.

(Again, looking forward – what will be the norm 5 years from now ?)

Prognostication about the future of communication is fraught with danger.

I believe corporate production will be completely dedicated to internet/intranet.
We will have to learn how to make programming look good on a small
    screen… smartphones.
High production value will become less important. The message will be short and sweet.
Being well versed in greenscreen will be a plus, if not a necessity.
On rare occasion will we pull out the stops and be involved in a big production…maybe for projection….HD

Yes, there obviosly is a quality diference in hd vesus sd.

    But;

Nobody in our corporate environment has a blu ray player.

Both our internal corporate intranet and our public internet site limit video to a size that I don’t believe viewers could tell the difference between hd and sd.

Not acquireing, editing and archiving in HD has saved us a lot of
money for now. With our fixed budget, we have been able to produce more product by not switching.

We do not anticipate having to send an hd signal to our cable channel anytime soon

March 10, 2010 at 3:02 pm in reply to: P2 Ingest from camera?

Our cameras shoot to p2 cards. Panasonic has a free p2 card reader at their web site. From this card reader you can make a virtual p2 card that is a copy of your origional card. You have to keep the file structure reflected in the virtual P2. In after effects or premier, navigate to and import the mfx files in the VIDEO folder of the virtual card. This will bring in video and audio to your bin. You are now good to go.

    Thanks,this works great.
I plan to be using aftereffects and photoshop for a long time. Do you think it would be worthwhile to learn javascript for understanding and making my own expressions.

No, I believe I chose “off” for fields.
I must admit I am confused about what I should pick.
I thought I should choose off to to de-interlace the
footage before working on it. Am I on the wrong track? Am I correct in assuming that as a matter of practice, its good to de-interlace, add effects, and then pick the origional field order when ready to render?
