I’m not sure I follow. How is cloning a clip different from duplicating one?

My previous attempts, in which all 8 channels were down-mixed into 2, also listed those 8 channels. That’s what was throwing me off. Either way, we got it figured out!

Thanks for the responses. I find it odd that MediaInfo only lists 2 audio streams in the “Audio” section when there are actually 8. It’s good to know that wasn’t the reason I was messing this up.

Can I ask this: When you exported the file from Avid containing all the mono channels, how did you accomplish that?
I’ve been trying to export a QT Reference file from Avid with 8 channels of audio (1-6 = 5.1 Surround, 7-8 = Stereo mix) for broadcast, and I can’t prevent Avid from down-mixing all 8 channels into 2, along with 6 blank channels in the same file. When I import it into Adobe Premiere Pro to set up the captions and encode to MXF, no matter how I tell Premiere to handle the 8 channels of audio contained in the file, I always end up with the aforementioned 8 streams combined into 2 down-mixed channels+6 blank ones.
Any help would be VERY MUCH appreciated.

I just tried a test file using your method. I’ll attach screen shots of both my audio output settings and what MediaInfo is telling me about the file that was exported. It’s only seeing 2 channels of audio for some reason… I have 8 tracks of audio in my timeline, mapped like I described in my original post.
I don’t know why it’s not outputting correctly.

Ok, in the FCP capture window, in the “Capture Settings” tab on the top right, there are two drop down menus. The first is device control. The second one is “Capture/Input,” which is the capture/compression preset when digitizing media from a tape. I listed exactly what the application gave me for both of my HD and SD capture settings. There’s not much more I can give you in terms of compression settings. It may not exist, but that’s exactly what I’ve been using for months with no issue for both HD and SD media captured from HDCAM and DIGITALBETACAM.
Perhaps there is some other information you would like from me? Or I misunderstood that for which you were asking?

HD is “AJA KONA LH: 525 29.97 8-bit.”
SD is “AJA KONA LH: 525 1080i 29.97 Apple ProRes 422.”

When I attempt to capture HD footage, it’s at Apple ProRes 422, and I have issues. When capturing SD footage, I use 8-bit Uncompressed without issue.

I suppose I don’t necessarily, but the design of the menus (just like studio discs you can buy on the shelf) involves a short “intro” to the main menu, after which the buttons and selectors would appear. I ended up doing without this little “intro” to get the project finished on time, but I would still like to be able to create these kinds of menus on future discs. Oddly enough, I created an identical menu on a past project in the exact same way with zero issues. Still don’t know what happened.
