Sony haven’t updated it’s SXS UDF driver to be compatible with Mac OS Sierra yet.
I’ve tried asking Sony for a timeframe for the update, without luck.
Looking online, the driver was updated for El Capitan about a month after it was released.
Sierra’s been out for around 2 months and nothing yet – so rather frustrating…
Anyone have any more info or contact with Sony?

Does Ian Cook no longer work for Sony as I haven’t seen him post on here for a while?

  • I posted the following in another thread but also thought it may be relevant here to try to get a reply:

I’m able to export my .mxf file to a SxS card, but then I’m having a problem playing this card in a Sony SxS card player (in a sat truck, for example).
The method I’ve been told is after exporting an edit from my laptop, take the SxS card and put it back into the Sony camera and update the clip in the menu. This allows me to see the edit in the camera and even play it out of the camera, but if I take the card out and put it in the player, there’s nothing there??
If I don’t do this and just export to the card from the laptop, the player says there’s nothing there.
In Avid, for this to work, you have to do an audio mix down first so there’s only two tracks.
Is there something that I’m missing in FCP X on the audio side to enable this export to work properly??
I don’t know if Ian Cook can help on this one??

All sorted. The problem was my laptop wasn’t recognising the UDF driver.

    Thanks Pete.

I’m not looking to export back for camera play out.

I want to export a finished edit to a SxS card to then hand it over to a SNG operator to play out from a deck inside the sat truck.

Whenever I try in FCP X, I keep getting the message saying that I don’t have permission to do this when I try to export to a UDF formatted card in a Sony SxS card reader.
(trying with the recent Apple update to include .mxf files)

I’ve downloaded the Sony SxS UDF Driver several times, etc but still no luck (I’ve deleted it again before trying again, etc).

In Avid when I click on Output, then XDCam it doesn’t recognise the card reader, so I can go no further.
