    Sorry for confusion.

The video files I am given have a guide audio mix on them. For example three radio mics mixed together. On a separate file system, the three separate radio mic tracks are put on three separate files.

I edit with the guide track… but for more control of the audio during the sound-mix they need access to all the audio files and need to link them up. They are using pro-tools.

    Hope this makes sense.

I am working on a file based drama project. I am given a sound mix to edit with. The people dubbing the project have access to all the original audio files / separate tracks. To link the tracks to the original audio files, they need the metadata.

I had this problem, found a work around and have had no problem with it for weeks. The first thing I did was get the latest update of Final Cut 7. It worked okay for a bit, but the problem came back.

Someone on the forum mentioned that freeze frames could be a problem. I noticed that the first shot on my sequence was a freeze frame. Once I removed it, I no longer had the problem. I think it’s a bug with version 7.

Unfortunately you have to get to the problem before the name changes. I would go into your back up and find the latest version before the names have changed. Then I’d remove your freeze frames.

My project was started on ver 7. I’ve tried moving it it to an updated project but have the same problems. I run off Leopard

In our set up we have two suites seeing the same metasan. When I open up the project in the other suite I have the same problem. I checking to see if taking out freeze frames makes a difference.

Unfortunately after about an hour, I started having the problem again. I’ve updated the machine, but not made new versions of the project. Somebody told me the file is corrupt, but it will take days to reload again.

    Thanks Shane
First impressions suggest its fixed. I think you might have saved me two days work. Thanks a lot.

The online will be done on smoke.

I will not be loading all the P2 footage onto the computer. The person loading it, will not have the time to add extra metadata. Very basic metadata will be put on by the cameraman. Ideally I would rename the files in fcp. I will most likely give the online a quicktime + a consolidated version of each episode. I will only need to match back to the original files if my drive is corrupt. My hope is that I can match back!
