  • You can try exporting each clip into motion, and using optical flow when slowing down the footage. Depending on the motion you can definitely get good results.

Do not “send to motion” as it will want to interpolate you entire source clip.

  • This burned me on a FCP project before…sent files to AE and then came back to FCP, and hours of renders were lost as FCP refreshed the files, so annoying!

You should pick your framerate based on deliverables. Unless you are going to film, it is much cleaner to add pulldown to your 23.98 footage in compressor than it is to deinterlace/remove pulldown from 29.97 footage.

Select all of your footage, right click, and choose create proxy media (make sure proxy media is enabled in preferences). Editing/playback will always use proxy media, when you export it will use full res.

January 26, 2011 at 8:32 pm in reply to: FCP/Decklink Extreme crashing using DVCProHD 720p

I was using the easy setup DVCProHD 720p 29.97. If I create a text (or Borris text) from the viewer, it crashes out. If I turn off external monitoring, it works fine.

BMD said the bug hadn’t been addressed, and he re-flagged it. It is bug # 6497

May 7, 2010 at 7:35 pm in reply to: delay the audio output?

We’ve got that same Sony monitor and are experiencing delays of 3-4 frames in Standard Definition. In our Blackmagic HD Extreme setting, we are set to black (not last frame played). The offset in FCP doesn’t appear to have any effect on external monitoring, only the preview window. Could this be a bug?

    Running Decklink 7.6, FCP 7.0.2, Leopard 10.5.8.

In the monitor settings, there is a delay preference. 0 is out of sync, 1 is closer to sync, 2 is in sync however the monitor jitters between fields and is unusable.

I’m using Title3D that comes with FCP. We are running the most recent version of FCP Studio 7 on Leopard. I believe it happens in any resolution.

Easiest way to reproduce problem- say you have a powerpoint style list you want to create. Start with one line of text. Then dissolve into that same 3D text with another line added…they won’t match up.

Is there a way to update the title3d plugin? Unless it came with FCP I doubt we have updated it.

    Thanks

How did the install go? Any problems with the Videohub? How many sources are you using?
