Man! Control-K Split clip, and then the JKL commands…hello and thank you!

As far as color correction, thank you again!

I finally backed everything off and re-thought this.

I ended up using the Reference Monitor and the YC Waveform view, and only the CURVES effect in PPro, and comparing the AE color correction to what I was ending up with in PPro.

I not only ended up with the look I want, but it’s as good or better than in AE – without having to use AE, and no separate rendering.

So, thank you Mike for sparking this and having me LOOK at how I was doing color correction.

    Regards,

    Kevin

Thank to you all for your advices and good tips.

I have bit the bullet and moved to Premier Pro and an AE workflow. Sooooo much better than the interim Sony Vegas stupid render cycle.

I am still messing around with integration from AE to PPro, but all in all, I can see now how I can just pull my footage into PPro, no interim renders, and do a final render and save MEGA room.

I also just purchased a 3TB drive for backups and whatnot.

    Again, thanks to all.

    Regards,

    Kevin

    Well thank you all.

I think what I will do is just try rendering using all the different CODECs and see what happens.

I am really trying to get my workflow down to sound sync, edit, after effects, etc., then just render, without all the interim rendering…seems like a lot of wasted time and space.

Also, I may have a logic error, thinking the 600D raw material comes in at say, 2 gig, and I should be able to render out at about the same size, not 5 or ten times the size.

Any, additional comments are welcome, and thank you all for the direction.

    Best Regards,

    Kevin

Wow. Thanks so much again! I will check it out!

I didn’t mean to create any jealousy, but I understand totally.

Previously, I was working and rendering on an older Dell Precision M6500 (laptop – which is by no means a bad machine to have), but limited to 8GB of mems.

My projects can be rather lengthy, and the company I did work for did the math…quadruple screen and disk rendering time, multiply that out to a year, and it saves me about 2-3 months in the long run. So the cost and time savings over a year meant having their IT guys buy and build me a machine spec’d out for screen and disk rendering.

I never dreamed I would ever have something like this!

    Best,

    Kevin

I will definitely post my findings.

It would be nice if there was a base composition that we could all use for benchmarking and comparing.

Thanks again for all the great advices!

OK, I’ve read all the other references you mentioned in the response and I will apply that knowledge to my settings.

FYI…For the above referenced hardware set-up, I’m am going to try a reserve of 48GB of the 144GB (1/3 memory) for other apps, and reserve 14 CPUs leaving 10 CPUs to AE at 3GB ram allocation.

I very much appreciate your knowledgeable and timely response.

    Warm Regards,

    Absolutely perfect.

I created an Adjustment layer, added the beam effect, checked “Composite On Original” so I could see see the line, and pick whipped the beam’s starting and ending points to the layers (after changing the origin of each layer as suggested), and VIOLA!!

    Thank you so VERY MUCH!!!

You saved me mega-hassle on this project.

    Best,

    Kevin
