    you can do it illustrator… there is a tutorial i read a while ago doing this very thing. try searching here, or googling illustrator morph after effects.

    basicly, you create you blend in illustrator, ungroup all the vectors, release all the vecotrs to layers (option in the layers palette). in newer illustrators this releases them to sublayers, so in the layers palette pull all your sublayers out of the parent layer and delete the parent. save you illustrator file. now import your ai file as a composition.

    you’ll now have a comp with all the illustrator layers as after effects layers. you’ll need to make the comp the length you need and distribute the layers over the length of the comp to get a cell based animation of your illustrator blend.

    you may not be using all the ram because ae just doesn’t need it… if your render is standard def and standard frame rate and your not using a lot of time based effects/features, like frame blending, forced motion blur, motion blur, etc, ae may not need a lot of ram to store information to composite into other frames.

    try opening activity monitor, in the utilities folder, while you render and check the cpu activity. that will tell you how well ae is feeding your processor.

    all that being said, nucleo and nucleo pro seem to be great products and will help just about any multiple processor system… the more processors or processor cores you have, the greater the benefit.

  • the vibration is most likely due to interlacing… this effect will only be seen on a broadcast monitor (or tv) that uses interlacing to draw the image (computers refresh progressively and the interference will not be noticed). with interlacing the screen image is split into 2 groups of alternating fields each set is drawn at 1/60 of a second in a alternating fassion to create an interlaced image that refreshes at 1/30 second. this was done to create smoother motion than 30 progressive frames per second.

    possibly the easiest way to get a clean freeze frame, is just to render the frame you want to freeze. from the composition menu choose save frame as. then select render settings from the render queue, make sure field render is off. twirl down the output module and set post render action to import. then set the file name and destination and render. your image should show up in the project window and you can bring that in to your comp.

    if you still see some jitter, it may be due to fine detail in the image… the easy way to fix that is with a slight blur in the only the vertical direction, many blurs can be restricted to just vertical, i tend to use fast blur and also set it to repeat edge pixels. a better way is to google deflickerator (an action script for photoshop), download it and install it. then take the image into photoshop and run that action on your image. it will only blur the problematic areas of the image.

    that’s why i would create a new solid (a little bigger than you need) that is the color of her breast. then, draw a circular mask (again a litle bigger than you need) and feather that. now position that over her nipple and see how well that hides it.

    if that looks too flat, then you might try adding a ramp to give it some shading to try and better match her breast. you may even want to add some noise if you need to match some graininess of the footage.

  • if your blinking comp is the length of the loop that you want (ie. the you want to repeat every 2 sec, so that comp is 2 sec.), all you need to do is enable time remapping (select your blinking comp, then, layer menu>time>enable time remapping). option-click (mac) the stop watch icon and typethe expression: loopOut(“cycle”, 0)

    you then need to set you out point for your blinking comp to the duration that you need.

    i would think that a feather mask on a flesh colored solid would help you get there… try a few different blend modes too. you could even track her nipples if needed.

    have you tried purge>all (from the edit menu i think) before rendering? and you’re getting this when you render (vs. preview), correct?

    i haven’t needed to loop just a single layer (or a single set of key frames), but its’s good to know it can be done so simply.

    i haven’t seen that error… but pixel buffer makes me think of graphics cards and that makes me suspect opengl. is opengl disabled in your preview prefs?

  • i don’t know of a way to have multiple ins and outs for a single clip/layer/comp, but the easiest way may be to just use hold keys in the opacity. create 2 (0% and 100%), then you can duplicate those and paste them where you want them…

    if it loops, you can pre-comp that layer with the opacity change (just one cycle). set the length of the new pre-comp to the length you want to loop. then go back to the original comp, enable time remapping for your pre-comp loop add the expression loopOut(“cycle”,0) and extend the pre-comp’s out to the length you need.
