Well, I downloaded what I thought was the latest drivers and firmware. And I went through the uninstall process. However, it never prompted me for a firmware upgrade, so I guess I’m doing something wrong.

The frustrating thing is that I tried two different AJAs on two different computers and I got the same results from the four combinations. I suspect it may have something to do with our various versions of operating systems, Quicktime versions or something like that.

It’s highly unlikely that two AJAs would fail in similar ways at the very same time.

The other possibility would be how we have it hooked up, but that is really pretty simple.

Do you know how to go about forcing a firmware update?

    Hi Folks,

Thanks to all who have expressed their best wishes and prayers, and those who have offered their help.

At this point, the hiring of an editor is being handled by the client. I have forwarded the names that I have received to him and he has said that he would “take it from here.” So please hold any additional offers of assistance. As I’m spending most of my time at the hospital, I don’t have time to keep up with my e-mail or return phone calls. Yet, I don’t want you to think that I am ignoring your offers, or am ungrateful for your offers of assistance.

Should my client need more names, I will post his contact information here so that you can contact him directly.

    Thanks again,
    Kerry

That wasn’t exactly the issue. But I did manage to find the answer.

Although I did RTFM, I didn’t notice anything about the Blackmagic Decklink Preference panel. I opened it, and enabled real-time downconverting to SD letterbox. It’s terrific. Now I may have to go and buy another card to enable real-time HDV on a third system here.

One of the BMD guys in Las Vegas gave me the solution via phone.

    Thanks, BlackMagic.
