  • Hey Jarred–

I think I understand your description (and predicament), and I think if I were in your shoes I would take a fresh look at your project and see where I might take component sections of it and make “sub-renders” of those sections, and then re-introduce them into the master project such that Vegas has less work to do for its final output. I know that, theoretically, Vegas can handle umpteen jillion things all at once, but, that might be only theoretical, especially if you’re in a jam.

I’m not positive that will help you, but simplifying and consolidating wherever possible always seems to have some merit, no matter what the universe.

Hey Jim, as soon as I saw “Norton”, I thought I’d reply. A couple years back I had some big troubles on another system, and my user group unanimously yelled, “Get rid of Norton”, which fixed my problem.

    Three things:

    (1) I’m not sure that’s your problem, but it might have something to do with it,

    (2) My local computer geek told me that anymore, Microsoft Security Essentials, which is free, works as well as any third-party anti-virus tool,

    and

    (3) If I were you I wouldn’t put myself in a position to even be able to get an infected computer. I have a “workstation only” system that’s not connected to the net, and is only occasionally connected if I need a driver or something. Anything and everything I do on the internet is done on a separate laptop.

Sure beats the hell outta me. I’ve been editing on various systems for 25 years and I think it’s pretty amazing.

There are a few things that I would have conceived differently, but I don’t know what anyone’s talking about if they’re describing it as anything less than a frontline, professional, workhorse video toolkit.

I honestly don’t mean to sound flippant, but why not just stay with what you know works? I’ve heard nothing but “stay away” from W8, and your W7/V10 sounds like “it ain’t broke”…

Fair enough, thanks John. I’ll just do a test.

I will celebrate the day if/when this industry can ever land on one standard (again) and just LET IT BE for awhile.

Maybe I’m just an old curmudgeon, but this all just gets so tiring after a time.

OH WAIT!!! Is that 4K?!! OH… No wait– 6K? No, 6K sucks, now there’s TEN KAY!!!

    My apologies… That’s a Friday night and a coupla gin & tonics ranting…

    Scott–

I’ve had the exact same issue from the start, and it’s only with WAV files. Totally bizarre, yes. Audio will play from parts of completely different projects, along with intermittent static, or nothing at all.

I haven’t tried the renaming thing, but I’ve just been converting WAVs to AIF and everything’s fine.

I’m on SVP10, but I’ve downloaded your file and I’ll keep it handy for whenever I “break what ain’t broken”.

    Thanks Matt!

    Hey Matt–

Well, it isn’t “truly annoying”, but it’s annoying enough that I’d like to know more about Black Tools, yes thank you!

I just don’t like being forced to make aesthetic decisions in a particular order, especially with my fifty-something brain.

And I would argue, if you’re paid by the hour, choose Vegas.

When I was first learning/discovering it, I was skeptical. Now I’m not skeptical. It’s one pretty bitchin’ tool(box).
