Make sure your capture settings match the mode in which you recorded your video:

If you’re capturing the entire contents of one tape in a single session, the entire tape must have been recorded in the same mode for the project to register the contents of the tape entirely. Example: If you recorded in an HDV mode, AND a DV mode on the same tape, the capture function will either only pick up the portion of footage which matches the record mode in the project settings, or will freeze when it reaches a portion of tape which was captured in dv(or hdv inversely) mode. If you’re meticulous during your capture session and jog through the tape, you will notice that the capture window will only display video which matches in both the recording type on the camera, and in the project settings in adobe premiere pro.

In summary…..If you recorded two or more different video types onto one tape, you cannot capture the entire tape with the “tape” button. You’ll have to jog through and set in/out points near where you changed the recording settings.
