I have exported to 2 types of drives. The drive on my Mac, which is MAC OSX extended journaled. My LaCie drive, which is also extended. So, neither has the 2 gig limit since I have exported larger files. I have exported 2 hour videos for DVDs, only those were quicktime files.

It is only the AVI file I have trouble exporting. Rather, AVI clips that are longer than 2 minutes. Shorter than 2 minutes, I can export to AVI perfectly.

I just spoke with one of them, and he says they can’t do that because of the size of videos we do.

Another thing is the people who are viewing these vids have laptops supplied by the company, which means they are password protected by an admin. They can’t download plugins or upgrades. It’s not a very good system they have going on…

Yeah, I’d rather not…

Our web developers here use PCs, and the only video they can use from us Mac people upstairs is the AVI format. It’s really long and difficult to explain, but the short of it is they cannot upgrade to anything that would allow them to use quicktime files.

So, we give them AVIs.

I tried your method, and it actually gets worse. After exporting to AVI from quicktime, it has no audio/video. I’m at a loss.

I always export short clips to AVI for them, all under 2 minutes. If a sequence was 8 minutes for example, I would export 4 2 minute sequences. This is the first time I have tried exporting a full sequence in AVI because they wanted to do a two pass scan for the encoding, and they could not do that with multiple clips apparently.

Any other ideas of what I can do?

I’m using Final Cut Pro 5, and have tried exporting using After Effects 7. I’ll try exporting to quicktime then using quicktime to export an AVI like you suggested. Thanks! Hope it works!

If anyone else has suggestions, please let me know.
