I have not gone for FCP X because of the mixed reviews, mostly negative, that I read when it first hit the market. I’m comfortable with FCP 7 but do recognize I need to upgrade.

Thanks Warren. I have converted mp4 to pro res via Compressor in the past, but this time I get the error message: “File contains unsupported media or has an invalid directory structure. Please choose a folder whose directory structure matches supported media.”
Unfortunately, my technical understanding doesn’t cover this!

Thanks Dave. I ended up downloading Movavi and since it doesn’t offer a ProRes conversion, I converted the files to H.264 and then put those files through Compressor. What a pain. And I can’t imagine what they’re going to look like. Might be time to jump on the Premiere wagon! I appreciate you getting back to me.

The video was shot on a DSLR and the codec is H.264. The dimensions are 1920 X 1080, frame rate 29.97.
The logo was a .psd file and the codec is Planar RGB. The dimensions were 1675 X 655, 29.97fps. I created a wipe effect using a solid color to fill the rest of the frame.
When I encountered the problem mentioned above, I created a Quicktime movie of the wipe effect/.psd and then brought that into my project. The info on that QT is 1920 X 1080, 29.97, H.264.
I did render the effects before exporting. I really appreciate your help!
