OK – well….
OS 10.4.11
2 x 3 GHz Dual-Core Intel Xeon G5

What works…
Export as Quicktime Movie
Current Settings – (and I’ve tried DV NTSC 48Khz)

This works fine all the way to duplication.

What gives errors:
Export-> using compressor (compressor 2)
using “standard settings”
DVD – Best Quality 120 min 4:3 (also tried fastest encode 120 – does the same thing)

DVD Studio Pro 4
Import Video and Audio Assets (I haven’t tried just the dolby)
take out the menu and just first play the video

and burn….

resulting DVD works just fine….
Take THAT DVD and put it in my computer burner, or my NEW microboards tower, or try to copy the Video/Audio folders to a hard drive – and no good – errors.

So before we go any further – let me try with the dolby audio….

Still, if I’m NOT getting errors when DVD Studio Pro makes the DVD from .mov and it DOES get errors when I use compressor..

Same sequence, same day, same burner, same stock, same everything…. same thing happens when I use TY brand….

who knows

I just love DVD technology…

Anyway – thanks for all your help… I’ll try the dolby instead of the aiff… that was quite helpful

so – ok – the sync issue will be better if I use the dolby – thanks… (but if I use just regular .mov export without compressor – I still get the sync issues – hence my original question – so I would really like to find a way to use compressor for my DVD Studio Pro assets)

but that doesn’t explain why they won’t duplicate – right?

Is it possible that because I’m using aiff, that when DVD Studio Pro creates the master DVD, it is uncopy-able? (of course I am not checking the the copyright disc check box in any of these)

I even tried at the auto setting in Compressor for 120 minute videos (so the bitrate is lower – and I used both the “auto” audio settings – dolby and aiff…. I did delete the dolby and keep the aiff audio for DVD Studio Pro assets

Normally I don’t use the DVD Studio Pro created DVD as the “master” I have found that it’s more stable by making a second master created from the DVDSPro created master. I’ve been making DVD masters for about 3 years now. When the replication plant gets my masters and checks them – there is never a problem when I create the second master….

So I use the Copywriter Tower to make the duplication master from my Mac.
